Andy Duncan, recipient of last year's Outstanding Faculty Award, presents the 2017 award to Dr. Amy Branam Armiento.

Dr. Amy Branam Armiento, associate professor and chair of the English Department at Frostburg State University, was honored with the 2017 FSU Outstanding Faculty Member Award at the 2017-2018 FSU Leadership Awards Reception.

Armiento is an individual who exhibits a passion for her students while remaining on a professional level. She is described as compassionate, empathetic, energetic and a positive support for her students.

Armiento serves on the steering committees for the minors in African-American Studies and in Women's Studies. She is also a co-advisor for V-Day@FSU and a staunch supporter for women's issues, including how to prevent and respond effectively to sexual assault on campus. Armiento has aided her students in getting the resources they need, whether that be encouraging her students to visit Counseling and Psychological Services, helping them find food if they are struggling or giving one-on-one guidance in applying for graduate school.
