Hollister Named NYCBL All-Star

FROSTBURG, Md. \u2014 Frostburg State pitcher Billye Hollister (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) was recently named a 2005 New York Collegiate Baseball League All-Star. The left-hander was a second-team selection.

Hollister, who will begin his senior year with the Bobcats this fall, went 5-2 with a stellar 0.92 earned run average for the Allegany County Nitros this past summer. He struck out 46 batters in 58 2/3 innings of work.

Hollister helped Allegany County finish second in the NYCBL's Western Division with a 33-13 record. The Nitros lost to first-place Hornell in the Western Divisional Playoffs, and Hornell went on to win the NYCBL championship for the second time in four years.

As a junior this past spring, Hollister led FSU to another outstanding season. He finished 7-3 with a 1.75 ERA, struck out 80 hitters in 82 1/3 innings, tossed five complete games and picked off a whopping 13 runners.

He was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Co-Player of the Year and was a first-team All-AMCC selection.

The Bobcats finished 29-13 overall, won the AMCC regular-season title with a 17-1 mark and placed third in the AMCC Tournament.
