Gibson Named to NSCAA All-South Region Team

Hampden-Sydney, Va. ... Frostburg State senior Kirk Gibson (Myersville, Md./Middletown) has been named to the 2000 NSCAA Adidas Division III All-South Atlantic men's soccer team.

Gibson, who was voted to the third team, set a Bobcat single-season record with 52 points and helped Frostburg State earn their third-ever NCAA Tournament berth and first since 1983.

He scored a goal in the Bobcats' 2-1 win over Bethany (W.Va.) in the first round before Frostburg State fell in the South Region semifinals to Washington & Lee, 4-1.

Gibson, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Most Valuable Player, led FSU with 16 assists and ranked second on the team with 18 goals.

The Bobcats finished the season 16-5 overall and won their second AMCC championship in three years.
