FROSTBURG, MD \u2014 Frostburg State suffered its second loss of the season Tuesday afternoon to Catholic University, 12-11. The score was notted 6-6 at the intermission, but the Bobcats could not shut down senior Ali Jarden, who scored five of her eight tallies in the second half.

The Bobcats (7-2) drew first blood at 2:02 when sophomore Kelley Duncan (C. Milton Wright/Bel Air, Md.) found the net. Duncan led the Red and Black scoring offense with three goals on the day.

The Cardinals (6-5) answered at 3:15 with a tally from Jackie Seward and then again at 5:17 when Jarden scored the first of her three first-half goals.

Just over two minutes later, Marissa Schaffer tallied a goal, but was answered when sophomore Kate Nicol (Glenelg/Mt. Airy, Md.) found the net off an assist from freshman Brittany Brumby (Quince Orchard/Gaithersburg, Md.).

At 9:33 Brumby netted a goal on a free position and junior Page Macey (North County/Linthicum, Md.) found the first of her two goals when she found the net at the 12-minute mark.

Jarden tallied another goal at 13:22, but under a minute later, sophomore Stefanie Ritz (C. Milton Wright/Bel Air, Md.) found the net off an assist from sophomore Tara Blake (Arundel/Crofton, Md.).

Ritz scored again at 24:43 off an assist from Macey to cap Bobcat scoring for the half. Catholic added two more tallies when Jarden posted goal number three on a free-position at 28:31 and Seward found the net with less than a minute left to enter halftime with the score tied at 6-6.

Jarden dominated scoring in the second half.

Macey opened scoring in the second stanza with a tally at 31:18, but Jarden answered 35-seconds later with a tally. Jarden scored again at on a free-position at 34:49 before Brumby tallied her second goal on the day at 36:49 on a free-position.

Duncan tallied the next two goals at 41:43 and 43:34. Jarden answered with a tally at 35:42 and again at 46:16, notting the score at 10-10.

Nicol added one more goal at 47:40 off an assist from Macey, edging the Bobcats ahead by one, but Christine Thornton found the net at 49:46 and Jarden closed scoring with her final tally at 52:28 to seal the Cardinal victory.

Anchoring the defensive unit was sophomore Erin Young (Glasgow/Newark, Del.) , senior Amanda Skilling (Queen Anne's County/Church Hill, Md.), freshman Tina Trent (C. Milton Wright/Bel Air, Md.) and junior Candi Burkhardt (Parkville/Baltimore, Md.), combining for 21 groundballs, six caused turnovers and five draw controls.

Bobcat senior Sarah Shockley (Fallston/Fallston, Md.) had 11 saves on the afternoon.

Frostburg State returns to action Saturday, April 10 when it faces Goucher at Noon.
